Aprajita is the Founder & CEO of Haiyya. Passionate about creating pathways for citizens to meaningfully participate in democracy and governance, she founded Haiyya to create a civic engagement and public participation model for nonprofits, civil society actors and youth leaders. Aprajita established Haiyya’s brand as the only organisation building next generation of campaigners and community organisers in India. She was recognized by Commonwealth Secretariat as the Regional winner of Commonwealth Youth Worker Award for Asia region in 2014.
Aprajita has 7 years of experience in campaigning, organising, strategic consulting and organisation building & development. She has led various National and Regional level campaigns in India on issues of women voting rights, gender based violence, right to education and safe abortion. She was the Co-founder of Campaign Academy India and also served as a core team member of a global team at Mobilisation Lab for 2 years. Aprajita represents Haiyya as the Global Affiliate member of Leading Change Network, a group of organizers who use Professor Marshall Ganz’s community organizing framework to drive social and political campaigns across the world.
Aprajita is an alumnus of Harvard Kennedy School’s Executive Education program on Leadership, Organizing and Action. She is a graduate from Tata Institute of Social Sciences where she pursued her Masters in Social Work and specialized in Gender Studies. She has worked for Digital Green and Special cell for Women and Children prior to founding Haiyya.
